Nearly $20,000 had been raised as of Tuesday, March 18 for John Morning, 39, of Tabernacle.

Morning remains hospitalized following the Jan. 25 crash on Route 70 about two miles from his home, the GoFundMe says.

The driver of the other car had crossed the center line and struck Morning's car head-on, according to New Jersey State Police. That driver died of his injuries four days later, state police said.

John, a physical therapist, has had six surgeries to fix internal injuries to his spleen, small and large intestines as well as multiple fractures in both legs and hips, the page says.

He and his wife, Debbie, have a 3-year-old daughter, Elia.

"This has taken an unimaginable emotional toll on the family," the page says. "We are hoping to raise money to cover the overwhelming medical expenses that this family will be incurring in the near future."

John was in the ICU for 15 days and is currently in the medical-surgical unit of the hospital. "His recovery will be a very long road."
